About the event
Join us at 1-800-Lucky for a one-of-a-kind Filipino Heritage Month celebration to honor and support the Filipino heritage, culture, and cuisine. The all-day, block party-style BBQ will showcase small, local Filipino vendors, feature collaborations with beloved local chefs, offer live entertainment and much more.
Filipino Marketplace (1 pm - 5 pm): Explore authentic Filipino arts, entertainment, and local businesses like:
- Dreaming of Clay: Hand-made Filipino-inspired jewelry
- Graze & Gobble: Sustainable clothing and accessories curator
- Ives & Bees: A purveyor of natural Filipino-inspired candles, handmade soaps, and other body products
- DJ KUYA TREY (1 pm - 4 pm) : Groove to the beats spun by local Filipino DJ KUYA TREY
Filipino BBQ (1 pm - 9 pm): Enjoy a variety of Filipino cuisine from event hosts Darren Mendoza of Lutong Pinoy Filipino Cuisine, Nicole Ponseca of 1-800-Lucky's own Jeepney and Cheryl Tiu of Cross Cultures. Local guest chef concepts curated in partnership with Cross Cultures include Leicel Ros & Nancy Dominguez of Sili Miami, Oliver Lustado & Jill Montinola, and Reiji Yoshizawa & Mel Mauro.
Karaoke Contest (8 pm): Showcase your vocal talents and compete in the exciting karaoke contest against friends and locals.
The Banana Catchup Block Party is in partnership with ACE NextGen: ACE NextGen serves as a platform for young Asians to forge their own path towards advancement with the support of a like-minded community, and was founded to increase Asian presence in American leadership.
